What time is it? it's phrase book time!  Not sure how many people are aware that Gaginang has been publishing phrase books, which are collections of Teochew phrases centralized around common day-to-day topic.  In hope of releasing these phrase books, we hope to extend the Teochew language and its continuation in our daily language (at least the common phrases) :)

And if you have not guessed it already, the topic of this month's phrase book is TIME.  Please check it out at our Phrase Book Page.

Enjoy,

How many nursery rhymes in Teochew do you know?

Learn Teochew Nursery Rhymes

Teochew videos are few and far between.  Even more uncommon are Teochew nursery rhymes.  So when Peng Boon shared with me videos of his grandkids reciting nursery rhymes, I thought this would be a good opportunity to share with the rest of the GGN community.  And if you're interested in learning yourself, well, you have some great teachers to help you along the way :)

Enjoy,

-Khiem

p.s. Thanks Peng Boon for creating the site and sharing with us.

Downtime Announcement

Posted by khiemahhh in website , updates

khiemahhh

We are moving the website to a more reliable webhost later tonight.  The website and all its features (forum, chat, dictionary) will be inaccessible during this time.  Due to the sheer size of our database and code-base, we are estimating that the site will be down for approximately five hours (if all goes smoothly), starting around 5pm until 12AM (PST).  In the event that we encounter problems, site may be down for an extended time, in which case, please feel free to harass Du Tran about this and question why he is not working hard enough :D

In seriousness, please contact us if you have any concerns :)

Edited: Downtime will be tomorrow night.

Edited: The migration has been postponed, because of several technical challenges.  After consideration, we decided not to shut the current site until all the technical pieces are in place.  This decision was made to reduce downtime.  Please  stay tune.

The new IT team for GGN is currently implementing new features for the website.  Please check out the recent changes, such as the front page shoutbox, the Chatroom, and the UI changes to the forum.  We're working to add pictures to the gallery, reorganizing the content, and releasing monthly phrasebooks.  Please continue to check us out and let us know what you think about these changes!

Cheers,

-Khiem
